The folks at Isla Animals in Isla Mujeres do amazing work to make a better world for the dogs of Yucatan and Quintana Roo, Mexico. They love every dog in their tender care.
But they extra-love Ali here. She was wreck when they found her in a swamp with all the usual jungle ailments and parasites. But poor Ali had tumors, too. So over months they nursed Ali through surgeries and treatments and they all danced with joy when Ali at last earned her clean bill of health.
That clean bill of health also meant it is was time for Ali to move on; to leave and find the forever home she so deserves.
So with tearful applause, our colleagues at Isla Animals saw Ali off. They'd saved her, cared for her, healed her. That emotional good-bye was their ultimate gift.
Ali landed in Seattle and will be adoptable through Sunny Sky's Animal Rescue, where their volunteers extend their gratitude and hearts to their counterparts down in Mexico, knowing that soon enough, they will shed their own happy tears when Ali finds her people and heads home, forever.
To all the volunteers, fosters, donors, supporters, well-wishers, flight angels, sharers, networkers; to our fellow rescues and rescuers and dog lovers the world over: Thank you.
Ali, we love you.
