There was never any question about Margaret's adorableness. On the cuteness scale she has always been an absolute perfect ten.
There was some question about Margaret's joyfulness. We struck up Margaret's furrowed brow and clenched jaw to her anatomy, and embraced her stoic little face as one more reason to adore her.
But boy, were we wrong.
Stay tuned.

Oh to see her smile…!
At Mutt Mutt Engine, we see a lot of brokenness….brokenness brought on by disease, abuse, neglect, starvation, accidents. We have medicine, hospitals and doctors who help. We have safe, clean, caring places for our dogs to heal.
But there’s a kind of brokenness that is harder to diagnose. Is a certain dog just quiet, or depressed? Is it serious by nature, or serious because it remains on guard against terrors we are lucky not to know more about? Is a certain dog truly old, or has the world just...worn it down?
The transitions it is our privilege to foster and share come in all forms, shapes and sizes. Each is powerful, and valuable, and amazing.
Take Margaret here. We thought she was just a serious little girl. We thought her stoic little bearing was just “part of her”. We’d never actually seen her smile.
Now that Margaret is adopted, she smiles all the time. She wiggles like a puppy. We won’t be insulted if forgets us; we hope she does. We hope any memories of her sad past disappear forever, the love that now surrounds her erasing them entirely.
Congratulations to Margaret and her new family. Congratulations to our Mutt Mutt Engine community – you saved another one in such a profound and beautiful way.
Special thanks to Yolanda, Katie, New Leash Rescue, James and the donors and supporters that make turnarounds like Margaret’s possible. Know how deeply we value you.
Know there is no such thing as a small contribution.
