Tatiana
Our 1,000th mutt-mutt joined us today. This is Tatiana.
Tatiana is a senior girl who was living at a construction site in Tijuana, Mexico. We don't know how she arrived there. It's been raining hard in Tijuana and cold too.
Tatiana was not spared the elements.
The workers on the site would toss Tatiana scraps and when their work there was halted until spring, they had the decency to let us know about a little dog living there. That little dog is Tatiana.
And this is Tatiana, at the vet, getting tests and care before heading to the dry, comfortable warmth of her Tijuana foster home.
We named our Tati for Mexican architect Tatiana Bilbao, given where we found her. Our little Tati's next building project? A home remodel. She's going to take an existing home and fill it with extra love.
Mutt Mutt Engine was founded in February 2019. Our original goal was to help twelve dogs a year. When compassion like yours is blended with the cooperation, dedication and generosity of kindred spirits, many lives are saved, and the world for dogs and those who love and help them is "remodeled" in the most beautiful way - the way of love. Thank you.
Tatiana, we love you.

Lassie
It's a cliche we never tire of: Former shelter dogs smiling ear to ear once they are sprung and on their way to new lives.
It's hard to even recognize Lassie as the same dog we posted a week ago with such dejection in her eyes and body. Lassie had been rescued by a good samaritan who found her bleeding on the side of the road. She'd been over bred, harmed with intention, and dumped.
But here she is today, smiling a smile we only dreamed she was capable of smiling. Thank you Contented Critters for making Lassie so happy, and thank you in advance for finding her an amazing forever home. Thanks to Waggin' Tails Transport for getting sweet Lassie where she needed (and wanted ) to go, thank you Day Before the Rainbow Rescue and Adoption, thank you Taryn, Joy, Patti, James and Lola. Thank you to the good samaritan whose name we do not know but whose actions reverberate through the world in the form of kindness. And thank you to You, our Mutt Mutt Engine community of kindred spirits.
Welcome to a brand new world Lassie! We love you.

Ali
The folks at Isla Animals in Isla Mujeres do amazing work to make a better world for the dogs of Yucatan and Quintana Roo, Mexico. They love every dog in their tender care.
But they extra-love Ali here. She was wreck when they found her in a swamp with all the usual jungle ailments and parasites. But poor Ali had tumors, too. So over months they nursed Ali through surgeries and treatments and they all danced with joy when Ali at last earned her clean bill of health.
That clean bill of health also meant it is was time for Ali to move on; to leave and find the forever home she so deserves.
So with tearful applause, our colleagues at Isla Animals saw Ali off. They'd saved her, cared for her, healed her. That emotional good-bye was their ultimate gift.
Ali landed in Seattle and will be adoptable through Sunny Sky's Animal Rescue, where their volunteers extend their gratitude and hearts to their counterparts down in Mexico, knowing that soon enough, they will shed their own happy tears when Ali finds her people and heads home, forever.
To all the volunteers, fosters, donors, supporters, well-wishers, flight angels, sharers, networkers; to our fellow rescues and rescuers and dog lovers the world over: Thank you.

Bodhi and Gracie
Mutt Mutt Engine was just one of many rescues that tried very hard to find Bodhi and Gracie a home together. Bodhi is blind and diabetic; Gracie is his guide and protector. When it comes to other dogs, Bodhi is Gracie's one and only. They are a bonded pair of seniors, one blind with diabetes, and they needed to be the only dogs in the home. It was a challenging placement.
Their amazing shelter stood by them for four whole years waiting for their unicorn to arrive.
And their unicorn has arrived. Congratulations Gracie and Bodhi! You're finally heading home forever!
Thank you to the shelter staff for your patience, perseverance, faith, compassion and advocacy. Thank you to our Mutt Mutt Engine community for for sharing Bodhi and Gracie's story hundreds of times over the years - your share might have been the magic one! Thank you to all the dog lovers that made sure Gracie and Bodhi would not go unnoticed, or unloved. And thank you to their special unicorn for a genuine Christmas miracle!
We are so happy for this news, and we know you are too. After four years in the shelter, it's finally happening!

Elvira
Elvira's hair is growing back in now which makes us both happy and sad. Happy, because with nothing but love and peace, her coat is growing back all on its own.
Sad, because her hair loss wasn't a medical issue, it was stress, and fear, and misery.
To think of Elvira in the kill shelter where we met her losing her hair and shaking like leaf is any empathetic soul's nightmare. But to see her now in her 4 Luv of Dog Rescue foster home, finding that love and peace she should have had all along, well, that's any dog lover's dream.
At Mutt Mutt Engine we do our very best to help dogs that need help most, and to help in ways that support a better future for all dogs...all while supporting initiatives and fellow rescues on the front lines of abuse, abandonment, overpopulation and neglect. Rescuers in places like Tijuana, Beijing, Kabul....South Carolina, Georgia, Texas....so many of our colleagues are hands-on battling hardship we try hard not to imagine, lest our tender hearts break apart. We offer medical support, placement and transport. We sponsor spay/neuter clinics and stock food banks. We look for ways to help that aren't exclusively about moving dogs through our system but rather are focused on supporting those systems that will create fewer dogs needing rescue long term...and that will collectively rescue more dogs, too. In this our third year, we anticipate helping 500 dogs - this year alone. In tandem, we support many brave rescuers doing wonderful, ethical work. We've saved many mama dogs from giving birth on the street and many puppies from being born on them. We've saved many senior dogs, quirky dogs, black dogs and dogs with special needs. We've lost some dogs with parvo and we've saved some dogs with parvo and we've kept hundreds more dogs from getting parvo because we helped those that harbor this terrible, often fatal disease. We've gotten many distemper dogs off the street too. We've saved nearly all of them, while preventing hundreds more from contracting it.
These actions are our bricks and mortar, but what we are building is a community of cooperation, compassion and love. Because united forces save the most lives. Because each rescue has a role, a duty, a specialty and working together with human foibles like competitiveness, greed and domination set aside saves more lives, and makes a better, kinder world while doing so.
Mutt Mutt Engine will never be the largest rescue you follow. We will never do all things and would never try to. We believe in working together; we believe that compassion must drive our every action, and must extend beyond how we treat dogs to how we treat our fellow humans too. We figure you're here with us because you love dogs like we do, but also because you're good and kind and want us to share with you our burdens and our victories both while acknowledging that we each have a role in all this, and that each role is important, and there is no such thing as a small contribution to a better world.
When we say You are Us, we mean it. You are a part of every life we save, every happy ending, every sweet story, every successful effort. You are our everything. You are every mutt-mutt's everything. We are beyond grateful to you every day. We hope you might think about us on Giving Tuesday. Paypal.me/muttmuttengine PO Box 24631 Minneapolis MN 55424 Venmo [email protected] or donate right here on Facebook.
But seriously, how delicious is Elvira?! We know she feels the love of us all. We are the new hairs, the soft, baby hairs that love and peace - and a wonderful foster mom - coax to grow back. Thank you everyone, so much.

Salty
We think highly of destiny here at Mutt Mutt Engine. Destiny is a part of every great love story - including our love stories with dogs.
Salty, right, was born onto the street in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. He was rescued by Isla Animals there. They nursed him and loved him and one then day a lovely flight angel flew him north to Minnesota.
Rosita, left, fully believes that Salty was always destined to be her brother and best friend. Rosita's new family agrees.
Congratulations to Salty on his forever home!
Thank you to the many kind people that made our dreams for Salty come true, you included.
Salty, we love you.

Iris
Continuing our celebration of happy dogs with great ears: Meet Iris!
Iris arrives soon to Whiskers, Tails and Ferals of Napa, California....all because BAJA S.A.F.E. saved her from the dusty streets on San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, and because flight angel Alexis helped to get her there.
Special thanks to Isabelle, Sasha, Alexis, Linda, our newest Mutt Mutt Engineer Colleen, Iris, You and the rest of our Mutt Mutt Engine community. Cooperation saves lives.

Dave, Clark and Sister
Together we make dreams come true - dreams, and dying wishes.
Dave, Clark and Sister belonged to a woman in Tijuana. We do not know their Spanish names, the woman didn't want to tell us. The woman is old and sick and felt she could no longer care for her little dogs. We offered food and veterinary care but the woman refused. She told us, "What I want most of all is to see them in loving homes before I die." That is why she would not tell us their names. "They should have new names," she said.
So we got to work. Nirva in Tijuana helped us get the dogs vetted. Katie and Rebeca drove them north and Dedicated to Helping Animals Oregon City, Portland, and Surrounding Areas welcomed them into their rescue. You can contact them if you are interested in adopting. KyLee at Dedicated to Helping Animals Oregon City, Portland, and Surrounding Areas will tell you: If you adopt, you're going to need to keep in touch. Photos and updates will be essential.
We look forward to being able to assure a kind, humble woman that the dogs she loved are in their new homes, and are safe, and dearly treasured.
Thank you for being part of our Mutt Mutt Engine community, making dreams - and dying wishes - come true.

Little Fox
It's been a long road for Little Fox. But some paths are just destined.
We first met Little Fox well over a year ago. He was battling Distemper in Tijuana at the time, and we were committed to sponsoring his care. He needed lots of care. There were lots of bills but then Little Fox's rescuer disappeared. And with her, our line to Little Fox.
We were so worried. Had he really survived? Was he alright? Every day we looked at his picture, wondering what had become of him. He had fought so hard for his chance at a better life someplace else. But we never found him.
Then a couple of weeks ago, our friend Beca contacted us about a little dog she'd found that needed rescue. Guess who it was? It was our friend Little Fox! He'd made it! We were so happy, and relieved, and so excited to at long last help this hard-luck little boy find the beautiful life he deserves.
The road to that beautiful life went from Tijuana to Portland, where our friends at Family Dogs New Life Shelter welcomed Little Fox into the fold. We all believe that the twists and turns in his story are leading him to someone special, and that someday we'll all look on this strange series of events as something truly magical. Stay tuned.
Little Fox, we love you.

Care Bear
Care Bear might look like a plushie but you couldn't even touch. She was absolutely feral, found living at a landfill in South Carolina.
Animal Ark in Minnesota gave Care Bear a chance. They also gave her love, and training and time. Now this weekend, Care Bear is heading home....forever. Congratulations Care Bear on your adoption, and thank you to the adopters who chose to love her, quirks and all.

Angelo
Angelo, whom you first met here some months ago, is now officially a double survivor! First he weathered the streets of Tijuana where he was whisper thin and sad, but he made it. Then he survived the residual kidney failure that nearly took his life on several occasions.
It was a struggle, there were hospital visits and doctor visits and lots of care at home. But through it all, Angelo had KyLee to help, and we had you to help us, and we are thrilled to report that Angelo's kidney values are back to normal. He is now officially a healthy boy! Thank you so much for your well wishes, your thoughts, and your donations on Angelo's behalf. As you can tell, they truly mattered!
You know....we did joke around a bit that Angelo got so sick because he didn't want to leave his foster home. Well, if that was his tactic....it worked! Not only is Angelo healthy, he's is now officially adopted!!! Congratulations to Angelo and KyLee both. We love a good love story!
It's $5 Friday! We have transports from Vallarta and Baja coming this month. Any time you can help we are so grateful.

Professor Bug
He is a distemper survivor. His head always has a little tilt from it, but it doesn't bother him at all. When a group of his friends goes frolicking past you, he will too - just a little later. He runs a little slower than the others, but with all the glee and then some.
His name is Professor Bug. We have more to tell you about him - that he was rescued in Tijuana by Nancy, sponsored by At-Choo Foundation, healed up by their amazing team including Elaine, Rebeca, Oralia, Hilda and Estrellita, driven to Oregon by KyLee, and welcomed there by Family Dogs New Life Shelter. But the most important thing we can tell you about Professor Bug today is that he now has a home of very own, forever!
Dogs that survivor distemper often have a "tic", a twitch, a limp or another quirk - it's not a defect, it's badge of courage, perseverance, strength and victory. We love helping dogs like Professor Bug - his story is proof of the value and wonderfulness of every single dog, and proof that true love does not require one's partner be perfect....just perfect for them.
At Mutt Mutt Engine, we believe every dog is adoptable because every dog is awesome, and worthy of a happiness. We are so grateful to our colleagues, partners, donors and supporters who believe this too, and help us prove it.
Bug, we love you.

Starla
We were all so worried about Starla. She was seized during an abuse bust in South Carolina and wasn't in the best shape. The other dogs seized with her were all adopted or rescued and had moved out of the shelter months before.
We weren't sure why Starla was left behind. But now we know: She was there at the shelter so that Mutt Mutt Engine could find her, and so that Contented Critters of Makinen, Minnesota could welcome her, and so that this family would be completed by her. Starla was just the dog they'd been looking for.
With this, hundreds of dreams have come true - Starla's, her family's, her rescuers', her advocates', local law enforcement's, the shelter volunteers', her driver's, all of ours, and undoubtedly all of yours, too. We want all good things for all hard-luck dogs. Starla's story embodies this.
Starla was one of 32 dogs on our Mutt Mutt Engine transport this weekend. It's $44 to sponsor her ultimate freedom ride, or the ultimate freedom ride of the others. We are so grateful for your kindness and support.
Starla, we love you.

Cumin
Mercy comes in many forms and when Cumin's family in Mexico dropped him at the vet to the neutered and then never ever returned for him.... Well, in a place where so many dogs that can't be cared for are turned out into the street to fend for themselves....and in a place where spay/neuter practices are just starting to take hold so that there will be fewer neglected, unwanted dogs in the future....well, it might look at first glance like Cumin was abandoned. But really, Cumin was saved.
The vet gave it some time. She asked who knew Cumin's family, and if they could be found. But the family left town - a tourist town where inevitably they had hardships of their own to deal with. Leaving Cumin at the vet - a vet well known to be especially compassionate and kind - well, it was an act of grace.
BAJA S.A.F.E. in San Jose del Cabo became Cumin's first rescue. They sponsored Cumin and reached out to us and then Sunny Sky's Animal Rescue in Seattle became his second. He's there now, and adoptable, just in case you know the person he's going to make as lucky as he's been; the one he beat the odds to meet and love forever.
Thank you for being one more great thing that happened to Cumin. Your support of our efforts mean to the world to Cumin, to us, to the vet and rescues down south and to the adopter whose heart Cumin is going to fill, big time.
Cumin, we love you.

Tammy
She was old, and in tears. A woman in Tijuana brought Tammy here to the vet to be put down. The woman had a run of bad of luck and had to move in with her family down south. She had no where else to go, and they told her not to bring Tammy with her. There aren't options for a senior dog like Tammy in Tijuana. The old sad woman was seeking to be humane, bringing Tammy to the vet instead of turning her out into the street, as is the more common practice.
The woman was old, and in tears. Our compassionate friend Yolanda approached the woman, intent on comforting her. The woman told Yolanda her story, and Yolanda offered the greatest comfort of all: She agreed to take Tammy home with her.
Yolanda rescues many dogs in Tijuana, often old or special ones. She knew Mutt Mutt Engine has a soft spot for old and special dogs too. So does flight angel Andrea.
So does Terry, Tammy's amazing adopter. This is Tammy, on her way home, forever.
Tammy, we love you.

Sienna
Sienna had such a hard life in Nayarit, Mexico. The wounds you can see weren't the only ones she carried.
The wounds you can see healed and left scars that Sienna's new family in Oregon cover with kisses every day, telling Sienna how beautiful she is, and how much they love her. Sienna loves them back with abandon, and thanks each of them - and each of you - for changing her whole entire world, forever.
Thank you to San Pancho Animales for saving Sienna's life. Thank you to the flight angel and volunteers that helped too. Thank you to Oregon Dog Rescue for your big-hearted matchmaking. Thank you to Sienna's adopters for healing the wounds we can't see. And thank you to You, our Mutt Mutt Engine community, for turning sad stories like Sienna's into fairy tales. We are so grateful.
Sienna, we love you.
Chapatin
Five pounds, maybe six. And that’s since he’s fattened up a bit.
So how does such a little old dog wind up on a Tijuana street, frightening, sprinting, rolling to the curb when a fast car clipped and spun him? This is a question we have no answer for. But we do know what happened after that: A kind woman who witnessed the accident picked up the little dog and took him into her arms. And this kind woman, she knew who to call.
Yolanda hosts a houseful of the old, the broken and the small. She named the little dog Chapatin and saw to his care. Yolanda has a way with these little fighters and survivors – despite the hell each one of her wards have lived through, they always arrive to us….whole. Yolanda’s little rescue dogs are proof of the power of love.
He doesn’t have many teeth. We don’t know what Chapatin’s previous ten years looked like, but we know what his future holds. Chapatin is destined to be someone’s special treasure, safe and pampered for what we hope is another decade.
Thank you to Oregon Dog Rescue for welcoming this wee senior and matching him up with the person he’s truly meant for, and who is meant for him.
Thank you to KyLee and Havi, spending their weekend driving from Oregon to Tijuana and back again so Chapatin, Montana and thirteen others have lives ahead that honor and celebrate the commitment of women like Yolanda, Hilda, Rebeca, Estrellita and the many other rescuers working so hard to change the fate of street dogs in Tijuana.
Thank you to our donors and supporters. You enable us, you are us, and we are making a better world, together.
Chapatin, we love you.

Curry
This is the ghost of Curry past, looking at Curry today, enjoying the sand in Long Beach, California. Curry was found on a road shoulder in Los Cabos, Mexico, as you see her. There were wounds, too.
Curry was rescued by Isabelle of BAJA S.A.F.E., then fostered by her friend Maria. Healed up and ready for her next chapter, she was flown north by flight angel Marilynn, picked up at LAX by our friend Cat, and is being fostered by Alison while she awaits her future – a forever home of her very own.
Curry is adoptable in the Los Angeles area. Contact us at [email protected] for an application. Curry has come so far in every feasible way. She is beautiful and sweet and good and deserves a beautiful home that will treasure her.
Curry, we love you.

Ice
Meet Ice. Ice is a flower of joy, sprouted from a seed.
As you know, a planted seed must be nurtured. At first, you see no signs, no hint of what will be. But still, you nurture.
The smallest sprout is how every flower begins, then there are leaves. What was very small begins to grow, to open up. A bud appears. That bud lets you know that joy is coming; that joy is imminent. And with the love you’ve given it and the care you’ve taken, and with patience, what started as a seed, it’s very planting an act of faith, blossoms.
That’s Ice’s story. She was rescued from the Los Cabos streets, a weak, ill and protective mother of two healthy little puppies. She gave those puppies everything, didn’t have much left by the time BAJA S.A.F.E. found her. The puppies were adopted and Ice was left to heal, to fatten up, to trust again, to love again, and to learn joy. It might take Ice a bit more coaxing, a bit more patience. But she blossoms, and the beauty of her happiness is breathtaking.
Ice will be welcomed to her new life by Street Dog Hero in Eugene, Oregon after spending a full year with our friends at BAJA S.A.F.E.. Ice’s story is one of tenderness and cultivation. Just look what love has grown!
Thank you for supporting our mutt-mutts. You inspire us, lift us, move us – every day. If you are able to help us with Ice’s transportation costs, we are extra grateful.

Lita Ford
Another mutt-mutt leading her best life: This is Lita Ford in her Minnesota forever home, where she is absolutely treasured.
She was Clarita when we first met her. A beating in Tijuana left her blind. Kindness saved her. Love brought her home. You brought her home. We're so grateful.
Lita Ford, we love you.

Gizmo
A new life deserves a new name.
He was Geiko when BAJA S.A.F.E. found him starving and infested in the barrio of San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.
Now he is Gizmo, shown here with his forever mom. Gizmo is living his best life with his beloved Briana in Santa Rosa, California.
Huge thanks to Isabelle, Maria and Sheri of BAJA S.A.F.E. for Gizmo's very life. Huge thanks to Sasha, Victoria and all the folks at Soft Paws Rescue for your welcoming hearts and beautiful matchmaking. Thank you to Gizmo's flight angel, his fan club, the entire Mutt Mutt Engine community and all who supported Gizmo on his journey. Look what love does!

Oxbow and Velvet
Doubly happy news to share: Oxbow and Velvet have found their forever home...together!
Oxbow, found starving to death in barrio of San Jose del Cabo, Mexico; Velvet, stray and disabled after being struck by a car, resulting in the loss of a leg; both saved by the immeasurably compassionate folks of BAJA S.A.F.E. Once well, Oxbow and Velvet were each flown by gracious patrons of BAJA S.A.F.E. to Los Angeles, California, where foster Larissa fetched them, and loved them like her own.
And now, they are. Congratulations to Larissa and family for adopting these two refugees from the street and treating them like queens. Thank you for giving them the life we always dreamed of for them, forever.
Thank you Isabelle, Sherry and Maria of BAJA S.A.F.E. for resurrecting these broken souls with love and care, as you do for so many of Los Cabo's most critical cases. You are angels.
Thank you to our Mutt Mutt Engine network and community of volunteers, transporters, flight angels, likers, sharers, donors, sponsors and supporters. It's you who enable us. You are a storied part of all our fairy tale endings. Thank you.

Alex
This is Alex of Monteverde, Costa Rica, fulfilling his destiny of love and winter in Aspen, Colorado. This is his first morning meeting snow. He loves it. This is his first morning waking up in an actual home. He loves that, too.
Alex was a village dog in Costa Rica. People in the village fed him, but not reliably. Alex went door to door, hoping. Some days he ate. Many days he did not. He grew thinner. Rescuers learned his story. Once they learned, they saved him. Our thanks to the villagers that did the best they could for Alex, and to the rescuers that made sure his days of hunger would end.
Thank you to Veterinaria Suárez for caring for Alex while he awaited this chance. Thank you flight angel Dylan for being that chance....just in the nick of time. Thank you Andrea for fetching Alex at the Denver airport and driving him to Aspen in a snowstorm so he could join Lucky Day Animal Rescue, whom we thank so dearly as well. And thank you to Joy Sichveland for going the extra mile in every way to make sure Alex made it.

Shada
In a world full of beautiful things, we celebrate here two of them: Love, and a want to learn.
Shada here was turned out into the street in Tijuana, Mexico by a family that complained Shada would not listen. We don't know if there was jest in their comment; Shada is deaf. Shada is also smart, and dear, and beautiful.
It's Tijuana rescuer Rebeca that welcomed Shada, kept her safe....kept her loved. It's Rebeca that kissed sweet Shada's tender nose when she said good-bye and sent her north to her best chance at a beautiful life.
It's Family Dogs New Life Shelter in Portland, Oregon that welcomed Shada - despite her deafness - and set to making our collective dreams for Shada come true. And come true they did: The couple that chose Shada fell for her right away, and the feeling was clearly mutual. But they did not leave with Shada immediately. They went home first and studied all the information they could find about training a deaf dog. They then went back for their Shada, professing a love for their new best girl, and a love for learning, too. Together Shada and her mom and dad are learning so much - about each other, about new ways to communicate, and about love.
Thank you to Rebeca, to Joy, to Family Dogs New Life Shelter, to Shada's dedicated adopters, and to you. It's you who enables our transports, and saves these sweet lives. We are forever grateful.
Shada, we love you.

Lia
You could say she shouldn't be here at all. She was found on a Tijuana street with Distemper. Distemper is a killer. Distemper dogs are shunned. Thank heavens for those who try to help them. Thank heavens for those who succeed.
At-Choo Foundation takes on the toughest cases in Tijuana. Lia's was one of those. Her vets and her advocates fought hard, and Lia fought hardest of all. Surely she knew in her very bones the destiny she was meant to fulfill.
Distemper left Lia with a "tic", as it typically does. In Lia's case, it is a "twitch" in her front leg. As strong as she proved herself to be, as sweet and as lucky, there were still challenges....not every rescue - or adopter - is willing to take in a girl like Lia. But Family Dogs New Life Shelter in Portland, Oregon did. Like At-Choo Foundation, they never shy away from a dog in need.
Neither did Lia's adopter. It took a couple of weeks for them and Lia to find one another, but find one another they did. All we can say is it was meant to be. See Lia and her new sister in the comments, and prepare for your heart to melt a little.
These are the happy endings we dream of, all of us: The front-line rescuers, the networkers and transporters and likers and sharers and donors and rescues and sponsors. This is our dream come true. Our other dream come true is knowing that it is your dream come true, too. We love doing this together with you, and are so grateful to you, for everything.
Congratulations to Lia and her new family!

Finn
It's a win for Finn and we're all in cause Finn has been ADOPTED!!
Destiny sure had a plan for little Finn....found battered and bitten on the streets of San Pancho, Mexico. Rescued by the good folks of San Pancho Animales, and healed there. Transported to Portland, Oregon by flight angel Andrea, and taken in by the good folks of Oregon Dog Rescue, who helped Finn find his forever person. Did it happen quickly, that Finn's new mom just walked in by chance when Finn had only just arrived, knowing he was the one? Or did it take a while, all the twists and turns and bites and lucky breaks all combining to make this union possible? Answer: Both.
Congratulations to Finn and his new mama! And thank you to Andrea, Karen, Kimberly, Karen, San Pancho Animales, Oregon Dog Rescue and YOU, because YOU are the magic ingredient in every single one of these happy outcomes. Thank you.
Finn, we love you!

Reef
The road was long, but it took him home.
We are delighted to share the news that mutt-mutt Reef of Baja California found his forever family in Minnesota. In fact turns out he’d found it when he arrived at his Grey Face Rescue & Retirement foster home this summer!
There were some health challenges along the way – an x-ray revealed that Reef arrived with buckshot along his spine, a fact that leaves us in tears. But what else leaves us in tears – more of them, and of a far better kind - is the fact that Reef’s story is now all about l-o-v-e love, every day.
Grey Face Rescue & Retirement, the work you do for senior dogs is nothing sort of exceptional. Thank you a million times. BAJA S.A.F.E., thank for taking on the tough cases in Los Cabos, Mexico, for the countless lives you save - and the countless spirits you heal.
Mutt Mutt Engine community, our thanks to you for being on this mission with us, saving lives with us, cheering and hoping and celebrating with us. You are invaluable.
Reef, we love you.

Squirrel
Some charming happiness for you this Sunday afternoon!
In a previous life, Prof. Squirrel suffered tremendously - illness, neglect, abuse. The warrior-angels of At-Choo Foundation swept her up from the Tijuana streets, cared for her and healed her. Bailey Lauerman sponsored her transport, and her amazing, big-hearted flight angel enabled Squirrel to join Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota, where her loving foster found David for her.
Sometimes destiny is so gracious. Thank you to all who made this happiness possible - you included - and to David for spreading and sharing the love.

Willow
Willow was found on a Tijuana roadside. Her gangrenous leg and tail were crawling with maggots. Who knows how long she had been there? Was she fighting to stay alive in those moments, or just hoping her pain would be eased?
Her pain was eased, but not as expected. An amazing team of vets and rescuers saw a little light in her. They tried so hard for her. And she tried so hard too.
Less one leg and her tail, she survived. And now, Willow has been adopted!
The continuing existence of this little life can be attributed to the warrior angels of At-Choo Foundation, who plucked a dying Willow from the curb, and sponsored her medical so she could fight…and win. Thank you to Elaine, Hilda, Beccz, Silja and Alejandro for fighting the good fight on the front-lines of neglect, abuse and overpopulation on the streets of Tijuana; for saving Willow’s life, and the lives of many others. Thank you Silja and Alejandro for fostering Willow in Tijuana, and helping her to heal – in many ways.
Thank you to the compassionate, caring folks of Dakota Valley Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for sponsoring Willow's travel. Your generosity and concern is evidence of the exceptional care you provide to you patients.
Thank you to Willow’s Minnesota foster Anne, who loved Willow with all her heart, and then found her the perfect forever family. What you did for Willow is hard in the way that letting our little birds leave the nest always is; you did it, and you did it with grace. And thank you to Willow’s new family, for loving her three little legs and tail-less scruff of a caboose, and knowing right away her survival in Tijuana was meant to complete your Minnesota family.
And thank you to you, the Mutt Mutt Engine network, who helped so much all along the way…cheering Willow on, offering support to her rescuers, and to us; for helping us find a flight angel for Willow, for sharing her story to help save others, and for being a life-saving force for good. We are so grateful!

Picolo
It is with great delight and gratitude that we report that Picolo has a rescue! Thank you to The Animal Debt Project, Inc. for opening your doors and hearts to Picolo, and christening our very first Republic of Georgia to Denver rescue effort!
It is you, the Mutt Mutt Engine network, that made this possible. Picolo has been living at a shelter in Tbilisi for 4 years. Thanks to you, he'll finally have a real forever home before too long.
Please thank yourself for being amazing, The Animal Debt Project, Inc. for welcoming Picolo to Colorado, Dog organization Georgia for saving him from terrible abuse and patiently loving him all these years, Picolo's gracious flight angel for volunteering to take him along, and our Mutt Mutt Engine community for Picolo's miracle.
Hurray!
A reminder that Palomo and Latte (see previous post) are still seeking rescue placement (or adoption commitment) in Minnesota so that they can share in the great fortune that Picolo enjoys. They can't come north without it.

Little Star
Our beautiful mutt mutt Little Star. The love in her eyes as she gazes at her foster mom made our hearts go pitter patter!
Little Star survived a horror show of abuse in Mexicali, Mexico. So many people worked so hard to save her, to show her a different world. Their hard work has paid off.
Thank you for helping to save her.
And thank you for supporting Mutt Mutt Engine - for liking, sharing, spreading the word, donating, cheering us on....and for this, the happy outcomes we strive for for these dogs, and for their rescuers.

Mutt Mutt #10 Ansel en route to Minnesota from Baja Safe Humane Society in Los Cabos. Toothless Ansel is aged beyond his years - his life has been so hard. But we will make him young again!
Huge thanks to Ansel's flight angels Chuck and family, his rescuers at Baja Safe, Coco's Heart Rescue for taking him in and assuring a life of ease and love, and thanks to each of you too for making rescues like Ansel's possible.
Have a great trip pal!

Camillia
The officials called it an accident. The people called it a bombing.
The officials said 50 people were injured. The people said many of them died. This is the circumstance from which little Camellia joins us – the unlikely survivor of a Kabul blast that killed her mother and siblings – this particular fact of the tragedy being one without dispute. Camellia was found alive in the rubble.
When there is misery, a dog is often salve. This is the case of Camelia too. Imagine the sight of something so innocent and sweet alive beneath the dusty rubble. Amongst gigantic grief, sometimes the sheer act of survival provides hope.
Sometimes, a dirty little puppy is a symbol of so much more. But now what would become of her?
I’ve little doubt that the woman who rescued Camellia is often asked, “Why are you in Afghanistan?” Undoubtedly the reasons are personal and complex but one thing I do know for sure: She is helping. Camellia is not the first being she’s saved there. Her house is full. Sometimes, too often, her house overflows.
Now we get to help the helper.
Now Camellia, a small, wiggling symbol of hope, gets to be a symbol of second chances. Camellia will live a peaceful life, proving that such a life is possible.
At Mutt Mutt Engine, we help people who love dogs find dogs love. If you love dogs too, you know this is not a trivial thing. Camellia’s rescuer knows this. Those in Kabul following her story know this too. And, so do you.
Camelia will arrive in Minnesota on February 16. Big thanks to them, to all of you, and to all of the dusted-off, unexpected symbols of hope among us.
The officials said 50 people were injured. The people said many of them died. This is the circumstance from which little Camellia joins us – the unlikely survivor of a Kabul blast that killed her mother and siblings – this particular fact of the tragedy being one without dispute.
