Reggie update! No brain injury, just a wound on his forehead. He's sore and has trauma and disease to heal from, but Reggie's going to be okay.
Reggie had the grave misfortune of being thrown from a moving truck in Tijuana, Mexico.
Reggie had the incredible good fortune of this viciousness being witnessed by a person who chose to do something to help him. Reggie's witness/guardian angel stopped her car, gathered Reggie in her arms, and rushed to the vet with him.
it's a second guardian angel that agreed to take Reggie in, giving him a place to heal.
And it's another ten thousand guardian angels reading Reggie's story right now, also helping Reggie in the ways they can. Thank you to each and every one of you.
Reggie we love you, all of us.

Rest in Peace Reggie.
We are so crushed that your life was brutal and short. We hope the beautiful stardust of your spirit rains down on another dog like you, one that especially needs us like you did, and leads us to him.
Reggie was thrown from a moving car on a Tijuana freeway. Rather than be broken by such cruelty, Reggie was saved…an amazing woman witnessed the event, pulled over on the highway, searched the ditch alongside it, found Reggie and rushed him to the vet. Her bravery and activism inspire and move us. Thank you thank you, whomever you are.
The vet reached out to our friends at Tails of Tijuana Rescue Project. Silja and Alex took Reggie in and fostered him. Mutt Mutt Engine covered Reggie’s bills. We celebrated together the wonders of kindness, timing, and generosity. He had a loving forever home waiting for him in Minnesota, an especially gentle home. We all danced with joy, including Reggie.
But then something went wrong. He stopped eating. His eyes clouded up. Our spunky pup became more and more still. We became more and more worried.
Reggie had been hospitalized for five days. Silja visited daily. She told him about the sweet family waiting just for him. The vets tried their best. None of this was enough.
Honestly, it is difficult for us to share news like this. We know our own selves that sorrow is a heavy burden, and we are cautious to put it out into the world. We share this sad news because we want our Reggie to be remembered. We want him to feel our collective love up there among the stars – perhaps it will coax him back down to earth someday, where we hope our paths never cross because his new life is all comfort and love, without any need for our sort of intervention.
We also share this so that all the volunteers and doctors that tried so hard to save little Reggie and the family that was in Minnesota waiting for him can read your kind thoughts, and take comfort in them.
Reggie, we are so sorry. We love you forever.
