Shada was turned out alone into the Tijuana street. Her family said she won't listen.
Of course Shada didn't listen; Shada is deaf. Deaf, and now alone the street.
That sad fate turned out to be Shada's luckiest turn, because warrior-angel Beca took Shada in...saving Shada's life, and moreover, changing it profoundly. Beca taught Shada about a kinder, more understanding world, and readied her for a new forever life....one of love.
Placing a deaf pit mix is not the easiest of tasks, but Family Dogs New Life Shelter in Portland, Oregon does not shy away from dogs like Shada. In fact, they welcome them with open arms and big hearts. It is with them that Shada will be adoptable soon. Our transport heads north next weekend.
This will be our largest transport ever. We look to you to help support this effort. Every dollar matters - to Shada, to Beca, to the adopter whose heart and home Shada will fill....to all of us, and to you as the heart of us.
Shada, we love you.

In a world full of beautiful things, we celebrate here two of them: Love, and a want to learn.
Shada here was turned out into the street in Tijuana, Mexico by a family that complained Shada would not listen. We don't know if there was jest in their comment; Shada is deaf. Shada is also smart, and dear, and beautiful.
It's Tijuana rescuer Rebeca that welcomed Shada, kept her safe....kept her loved. It's Rebeca that kissed sweet Shada's tender nose when she said good-bye and sent her north to her best chance at a beautiful life.
It's Family Dogs New Life Shelter in Portland, Oregon that welcomed Shada - despite her deafness - and set to making our collective dreams for Shada come true. And come true they did: The couple that chose Shada fell for her right away, and the feeling was clearly mutual. But they did not leave with Shada immediately. They went home first and studied all the information they could find about training a deaf dog. They then went back for their Shada, professing a love for their new best girl, and a love for learning, too. Together Shada and her mom and dad are learning so much - about each other, about new ways to communicate, and about love.
Thank you to Rebeca, to Joy, to Family Dogs New Life Shelter, to Shada's dedicated adopters, and to you. It's you who enables our transports, and saves these sweet lives. We are forever grateful.
